What are the symptoms of campala bacti in dogs, does it cause tummy gurgling and flatulence?

She was diagnosed by the vet and has had a course of anti biotics which she has just finished, but her tummy gurling and flatulence have not improved. She appears extremely well and is putting on weight, she was only 10 kilos when i had her at 6 months old, she is now nearly eight months old and is 13 kilos. SHE is a springer by the way and a typical manic one at that.

If you think your dog is ill, that it to a vet. However, if the only symptoms are tummy gurgling and flatulence you probably don’t have anything to worry about unless it goes on for a long time.

Why do you think it’s compylobacter? If you have a genuine reason for suspecting this then you should really take the dog to a vet soon. A friend of mine had a puppy who died of campylobacter. The initial infection was cleared up, but she was left with complications which eventually caused her death.

How many symptoms of Heart worm do dogs get before it is too late to help them?

My 8 year old dog has almost all the symptoms of heart worm (weight loss, occasional cough, doesn’t run around like she used to). My mom thinks it is too late to help her. I don’t want to put her to sleep if I don’t have to. What is the chance of her living if we give her the treatment? Is there such a thing as "too late to help" her?

it may or may not be heart worms but it’s never to late to get a heart worm test and if it’s negative to start prevention. when you take her to the vet they’ll listen to her heart and lungs, do a heart worm test, and maybe even an x-ray. treatment for heart worms is very hard on a dog and the damage done by the worms will always be there. so take her to the vet and see what’s going on before you give up on your dog.

There are some outward symptoms a pregnant dog may exhibit, but they generally do not surface until about four or five weeks. The most obvious symptom of a pregnant dog is weight gain. However, a pregnant dog may not gain any significant weight until a week or two before birth if there are only one or two puppies. Another obvious sign of a pregnant dog is enlarged mammary glands. Most pregnant dogs will display enlarged mammary glands between five and seven weeks.

Other signs a dog may be pregnant are behavioral symptoms. Initially, you may notice a decrease in appetite. Dogs may become restless and interact less with their people and may prefer seclusion. They often make natural attempts at nesting, evidence by the shredding of paper or digging at blankets and bedding in the last week or so. A pregnant dog can also become irritable, with minor personality changes in the last two to three weeks.

A pregnant dog requires good nutrition to develop healthy puppies. Veterinarians may recommend protein supplements or other additions to the dogs diet and owners should be aware that a pregnant dog may have an increased appetite. Fluid intake is also important and thirst may increase, so be sure to provide fresh water at all times.

Some dogs also display signs of false pregnancy after coming off their heat cycle. The physical symptoms, such as enlarged abdomen and mammary glands do not surface, but psychological signs may be present. Some dogs adopt babies by carrying around and nesting with stuffed animals. However, do not allow a dog who displays signs of a false pregnancy to try stealing puppies from another litter.

If you are attempting to breed your dog, be aware of the signs she exhibits after breeding. Provide her with the proper care and attention, but remember nature mostly takes its course on its own. Be sure to provide a suitable whelping box for delivery and monitor your dogs ability to care for her pups. All puppies should see a veterinarian for routine de-worming by 3 weeks of age and should be weaned between 3 and 4 weeks.

If you have a pregnant dog and are unfamiliar with delivery and aftercare, consult your veterinarian for information. If you have a pregnant dog, but had no intentions of breeding her, be responsible in her care and that of the puppies and then have your dog spayed as soon as possible.

Bladder infections in dogs: what are the general symptoms?

My malamute is suddenly urinating in the house. She’s never done this before. I will take her to the vet but hope someone will let me know if they’ve experienced this with their older dog and if it’s a sign of a bladder infection. Thanks so much for sharing your info with me.

In an older dog, I’d be extremely concerned that this is a health problem. Might be a UTI or bladder infection, but could also be signaling more serious diseases like diabetes or renal failure, etc. Especially if this is paired with polydipsia (excessive drinking).

UTI/bladder infection:

-urinates frequently
-housebroken dog suddenly goes in the house (may see this near the door as dog knows to go outside)
-cloudy urine
-discharge
-whimpering when urinating
-waiting to go because it’s painful to go
-excessive licking due to discomfort
-urgently signal a need to go out and then only pees a few drops

If she’s just peeing a lot and in inappropriate places without the signs above, it may well be a sign of more serious disease. Please to get her to the vet ASAP!

i think my dog is pregnant she has been lactating and their is something lumpy in her stomach down by her legs could she be pregnant?and what signs and symptoms do pregnant dogs have?

I don’t know if she might be pregnant but here are some signs:
Their breast get bigger
They nurse some toys
They somtimes lie in cozy spots(and somtimes make their own nest)
Those are all the sighs that i know of but if you really really think you dog is pregnat take her to the vet to make sure shes healthy,swich to puppy food and find a big Box or crate(big enough so they can strech so they can give birth confortablely)and lay blankets in the box and make sure that the puppies cant get out of the box and keep the puppies warm at all times because theyre very sensitive to the cold.

Does cutting dogs hair make him sick symptoms?

Twice now, when Mr.Pippin has been shaved for summer, he has shivered and not eaten. I had to put water in his mouth the first couple days because he wouldn’t eat or drink. Within the past three years, this has happened after getting his hair shaved. Do you think the mohawk is so embarassing to him that he made himself sick?

Do you use a flea shampoo when you shave him? Cause I’ve seen that happen after a flea bath on several occasions, flea shampoos are nasty toxic things. Over the counter flea meds are very harsh and make a lot of animals sick. Read the fine print, and you’ll find warnings about possible seizures and sudden death. If the clippers stress him out, that could make him sick too. Stop shaving him, or just shave his belly so he can lie on the cool ground but not be totally unprotected from the sun.

Bleeding.

Dogs go into heat for the first tie around 7-9 months old. it lasts for three weeks -
the first week she will bleed…
the last two weeks she will has clear wet stuff.

keep her away from males the entire time – they are not ready to breed until they are 1.5-2 years old. breeeding them early can be deadly because they are not fully developed yet.

What are the symptoms of a yeast infection in dogs?

I have a female pug that’s almost a year old she has two irritated spots on the back of her head that are red and they itch, sometimes bleed.
My dog also is chewing her paws. She’s chewing them like shes trying to soothe an itch. Does she have a yeast infection? I know its a common infection with pugs but I just want to make sure it isnt something more serious.
She seems to be ok otherwise. She just seems to itch a lot. She has flea medication so we dont think its fleas. She is eating well and seems to be active its just the constant itching that has us concerned.

If this is a recent change for her then you need to rack your brain for ANY changes in her environment, inside/out. If you are having snow/ice has anyone put salt down outside?? Check her pads and paws carefully. Wash and dry every few days in case that chewing is from exposure to salts, carpet cleaner, even Febreeze!!

If it is yeast then you can find out fairly easy. The "yeast infection" creme women use will work on the spots within several days. Less itching and starting to heal means you are on the right diagnosis. Apply a small amount daily and if working then continue for about a week. If there are similar places on the feet apply there.

In winter with the heat going dogs can develop dry skin like us. I have found that an Aloe Vera base lotion applied to dry spots helps that. But with bloody areas I would first clean and try the "ladies creme" first.

What are the symptoms of hip problems in younger dogs?

I have a shepherd mutt we rescued a few weeks ago and her hips seem somewhat weak. We are still putting weight on her, but I was wondering if there might be something wrong with her hips. The vet didn’t say anything about it when we went, I may be overly cautious, but I was just hoping someone could give me some insight as to what to look for.

When she is sitting, it does not have that "v" or "L" shape you would expect. Her back does not sit straight. When she sits it’s like she’s humped over. Sometimes she falls backwards.

You could also go to another vet if you are having concerns

Can a doberman have osteoarthritis in puppyhood? What are its symptoms? Actually, 20 days back my dobe had his ear cropped and he was give antibiotic shots everday for 4 days. It made his hind legs very sore. Since, then he has improved a lot but not completely. Today I was going through some text about osteoarthritis and found the symptoms very similar with my dobes’. Help

I doubt it if his eating a quality dog food.
